Description

1. Delivery of MSD’s Communications Objectives

·
Builds MSD’s reputation through developing
and implementing our external communications program including:

o
Corporate communications on company-wide
business developments and issues

o
Communications on our employee value
proposition to engage current and potential future staff

o
Product communications particularly for new
products under review and launches

o
Therapeutic area related campaigns and
patient disease awareness communications

o
Communications on broad policy issues

o
Crisis management communications

o
First point of contact for external media
enquiries

·
Strengthens the relationships and
capabilities MSD needs to maintain a positive external profile, covering:

o
Regular, proactive outreach to top tier
health journalists in industry, medical and mainstream media

o
Managing agencies, social media experts and
content providers to complement internal capabilities

o
Building broad internal skills in good
writing, verbal presentation and social media

o
Ensuring that all media activities adhere to
our internal standards and Korean law

·
Develops and delivers MSD’s internal
communications program, covering:

o
Communications from the Managing Director on
major announcements, and strategic updates

o
Written internal communications in the form
of blogs, updates and monthly compendiums of stories

o
Employee engagement on company culture, development,
diversity, standards and well-being

o
Content development and programming of
regular company-wide town hall meetings

o
Coordination and planning of national
business meetings

o
Regular updates of our intranet site

o
The External Affairs weekly update, in
conjunction with the Policy and Market Access leads

·
Supports MSD’s Corporate Social
Responsibility program with appropriate
communications

2.
Leadership and
strategic counsel

·
Contribute as a company-wide senior leader in
developing an aligned, constructive culture

·
Provide communications advice to the Country
leadership team and across the business as required

·
Build a strong network within MSD’s global
communications community, ensuring Korea contributes to the global
organisation’s communications program and leverages global resources and best
practice

·
Participate as a key contributor to the External
Affairs team, ensuring that all corporate and product external affairs
activities have fully integrated communications plans

·
Stay across competitor movements by
monitoring press releases, advertising and publicity campaigns

·
Stay across local and industry media for
articles relating to the pharmaceutical industry and issues affecting MSD
and/or its products and act upon releases accordingly

·
Manage communications budget

Qualifications

1. Education

·
Undergraduate qualifications either in communications
or in the life sciences

·
Post graduate degree would be an advantage

2. Experience

·
Strong media relations skills with current media
contacts

·
Political experience or strong interest in and
understanding of political/government process

·
In
excess of 10 years of experience of the pharmaceutical sector and / or
communications roles

·
Evidence of work outside of the boundaries of
traditional corporate communications work, for instance leadership positions in
industry, cross country / subsidiary experience, policy-related communications,
government relations

Involvement
in running high level strategic campaigns within a team
